The Area Management Specialist ensures that the operations of the properties in their portfolio are in compliance with Mercy Housing standards and expectations of property management.
In this role, you will assess barriers to operational success, implement solutions, and provide training and support to property staff as-needed. Lease-up experience strongly preferred.
This is an on-site position. Local travel required.
Pay: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Duties
- Follows rent collection procedures.
- Maintains occupancy levels at budgeted levels and higher, where possible.
- Achieves rents allowed under regulatory programs.
- Reviews property expenses and effectively managed to adhere to budgeted guidelines.
- Trains staff on effective use of property management, accounting, and personnel-related software, instructing staff on proper usage, as necessary.
- Monitors and completes regulatory compliance requirements, including file compliance, recertifications, interim recertifications, and appropriate documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of applicable local and federal housing laws, including Fair Housing and Landlord and Tenant laws.
- Experience being accountable for financials.
- Previous housing or property management experience including HUD, Low Income Tax Credits, Rural Housing, and Tax-Exempt Bond properties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in property or affordable housing management.
- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, accounting, customer service, and/or supervisory experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehend and communicate in the English language both orally and in writing.
- Interpret and understand financial information generated from property management software reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Define and solve problems.
