What You'll Do:
  • Assistant Custodian Level I – IV is determined by assignment type (e.g., elementary, combined site, high school, multi-site) and Facility Management
  • Communicate and coordinate with school staff, students, and community members in alignment with District Success Factors
  • Maintain facility security by locking doors, windows, and gates; report unsafe conditions or needed repairs
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, drinking fountains, cafeterias, and other facility areas; gather and dispose of trash
  • Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, sealing, and polishing
  • Safely use chemicals and power equipment; remove graffiti, gum, and other markings, applying protective coatings as needed
  • Inspect and clean equipment, air vents, and filters; perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs to building systems, furniture, and fixtures
  • Conduct a variety of grounds work and assist with pool maintenance in compliance with district and safety codes
  • Move and assemble furniture, distribute supplies, and prepare spaces for scheduled events or activities
  • Supervise, assign, and train custodial staff; support or act in place of the Facility Manager when required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
