About the Role
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Pittsburgh facility and grounds. This role leads the facilities and janitorial teams and ensures the building environment supports operational excellence across operations and office functions.
The Facilities Manager owns the facility maintenance strategy, vendor management, preventive maintenance programs, and facility-related capital planning. This leader drives a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Lead day-to-day facility operations, including building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), grounds, and cleanliness standards.
- Coordinate and oversee facility repairs, service requests, and vendor work.
- Directly manage the facilities and janitorial teams (3–5 direct reports), including scheduling, training, performance management, and development.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to ensure facility reliability and minimize operational disruption.
- Manage facility operating budget, track expenses, and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Lead facility improvement and capital projects from planning through execution.
- Select, negotiate, and manage third-party vendors and service contracts.
- Partner cross-functionally on space planning, office moves, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Own and maintain compliance with all applicable state and local facility licenses, permits, and inspections, including but not limited to elevators, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, life‑safety systems, and pressure vessels.
- Establish and track KPIs related to facility uptime, cleanliness standards, and work order completion.
- Identify and mitigate facility-related risks through proactive planning and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary on‑call escalation point for facility emergencies, coordinating internal teams, emergency services, and external vendors to ensure rapid, safe resolution and minimal operational impact.
- Develop, implement, and sustain environmental compliance programs aligned with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., waste handling, recycling, emissions, water usage).
- Champion environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives, driving responsible resource usage, waste reduction, and continuous improvement in environmental performance.
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
- Reports to the Senior Fulfillment Operations Manager, Pittsburgh.
Leads 3–5 direct reports across facilities and janitorial operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Work Traits (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of facilities or building management experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Working knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing custodial or janitorial operations.
- Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office.
