Full job details

This position serves as an essential point of contact for a variety of issues within the facility. The facilities manager will field emails about maintenance and repairs, reviews proposals for new construction projects, tour and inspect patient rooms, compare pricing on new furniture options for the waiting room, negotiates service contracts, and trains new employees on proper emergency evacuation procedures. This position routinely inspects all hospital elements or schedules professional inspections as needed to ensure they're in proper working order. The hospital facilities manager schedules and arranges for routine preventive maintenance.


• Establishes and enforces operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety.
• Inspects completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
• Directs activities of workers who perform duties such as landscaping, cultivating lawns, or pruning trees and shrubs.
• Schedules work for crews, depending on work priorities, crew or equipment availability, or weather conditions.
• Plants or maintains vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, or pruning.
• Monitors project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
• Trains workers in tasks such as transplanting or pruning trees or shrubs, finishing cement, using equipment, or caring for turf.
• Provides workers with assistance in performing duties as necessary to meet deadlines.
• Inventories supplies of tools, equipment, or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable condition.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate work activities with those of other departments or units.
• Performs personnel-related activities, such as hiring workers, evaluating staff performance, or taking disciplinary actions when performance problems occur.
• Reviews contracts or work assignments to determine service, machine, or workforce requirements for jobs.
• Maintains required records, such as personnel information or project records.
• Prepares or maintains required records, such as work activity or personnel reports.
• Investigates work-related complaints to verify problems and to determine responses.
• Directs and assists workers engaged in the maintenance or repair of equipment, such as power tools or motorized equipment.
• Installs and maintains landscaped areas, performing tasks such as removing snow, pouring cement curbs, or repairing
sidewalks.
• Performs administrative duties, such as authorizing leaves or processing time sheets.
• Recommends changes in working conditions or equipment use to increase crew efficiency.

Qualification Requirements
• Advanced mechanical and plumbing skills
• Knowledge of HVAC and other building systems
• Ability to lift heavy objects and do other labor-intensive tasks
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills
• Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles
• Great leadership and problem-solving skills
