Full-time, Year-round

The Facilities Manager (FM) plays a vital role in supporting our farm's year-round operations by keeping our two farm sites safe, functional, and efficient.

This role is responsible for the care and maintenance of our facilities, equipment, and infrastructure—including but not limited to the farmstand, farmhouses, barns, greenhouses, and the surrounding grounds. Responsibilities include coordinating and directing maintenance, repair, and small construction projects.

The position is designed to balance hands-on facilities work with planning, coordination, and contractor oversight. Success is defined by well-functioning systems, not by doing every task personally.

The ideal candidate brings experience in facility maintenance and repair, along with strong mechanical aptitude. They are not expected to be a jack of all trades; many projects will be outsourced, so the ability to work with contractors and communicate clearly with the broader team is just as important as hands-on skills.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

  • Manage all facility maintenance across both farm sites, ensuring consistent documentation of issues, repairs, and associated budgets
  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules, work order systems, and parts inventory to support efficient facility operations
  • Collaborate closely with managers and staff across all departments to plan repairs proactively and minimize disruptions
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs (of buildings, production equipment, coolers, greenhouses, irrigation systems, vehicles, and other essential infrastructure) as appropriate, while coordinating contractors and specialized service providers for larger or more technical projects
  • Anticipate future maintenance needs; communicate timelines and impacts clearly with the broader team

Project Coordination

  • Lead and supervise special projects, including sourcing bids, coordinating contractors, and overseeing construction or equipment installation
  • Establish and adapt work procedures to align with seasonal production schedules and operational priorities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outside contractors, ensuring quality work and clear communication

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain records required for compliance with organizational policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with organizational safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and applicable sanitation and food safety programs
  • Maintain and update SOPs and lead training on maintenance and safety, in coordination with leadership and program managers.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, and supervise a groundskeeper
  • Outsource work to subcontractors as needed
  • Create and manage inventory of tools, repair parts, and supplies, with appropriate redundancy for critical systems
  • Work collaboratively with department managers to improve, optimize, and enhance facility systems

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, construction, or a related field
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment and facilities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and contractors
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, reliability, professionalism, and accountability
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of tractors, implements, vehicles, shop tools, building systems, and facility infrastructure
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Cedar Circle is a community that values a supportive and positive work environment. This role involves physically demanding repair and maintenance work. Physical and environmental demands may include walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, and reaching. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with high-speed moving parts. During peak seasons or urgent repair situations, extended hours may be required (eligible for overtime).

Compensation

The Facilities Manager is a full time, year-round position. Benefits include: health insurance (premium 100% employer paid, 50% paid for minor dependents); paid personal, sick, and parental leave; a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer safe harbor match; short-term disability insurance (100% employer paid), 20% discount at our farmstand; 50% off summer camps for dependents; and access to an employee assistance program. Pay is $24-27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Application Instructions

To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter, and three professional references through our online application. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
