Description
The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing all custodial staff and managing the maintenance and upkeep of campus buildings and grounds. This role ensures a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors, while supporting continuous improvement in facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise custodial staff and oversee daily maintenance operations
- Ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of all buildings and grounds
- Perform and coordinate basic maintenance work, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs
- Monitor facility conditions and establish maintenance goals and standards
- Assist in evaluating facility performance and implementing corrective actions for ongoing improvements
- Coordinate and supervise contractors when specialized work is required
- Prepare cost estimates, gather project data, and manage purchasing of services and materials
- Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and evaluate alternative products for efficiency and cost savings
- Process purchase orders and ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities
Requirements
- Experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a related field
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance practices
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
