POSITION:

Maintenance Manager

REPORTS TO:

Head of East Coast Production

DEPARTMENT:

1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 The Maintenance Manager leads all maintenance operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance of production equipment and facility systems. This role is accountable for maximizing uptime, improving equipment reliability, and driving continuous improvement through TPM and disciplined maintenance practices.

 

2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

2.1 Maintenance and Reliability

  • Lead daily maintenance operations to minimize downtime and support production
  • Drive equipment reliability through TPM, root cause analysis, and performance tracking
  • Monitor and improve key metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR)

2.2 Preventative and Predictive Maintenance

  • Own and optimize the preventative maintenance program
  • Implement predictive maintenance and condition monitoring
  • Ensure all work is planned, scheduled, and documented

2.3 Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with operations and engineering to improve equipment performance
  • Lead Lean initiatives (5s, Kaizen) to reduce waste and increase efficiency

2.4 Maintenance Systems and Planning

  • Manage CMMS for word orders, asset tracking, and scheduling
  • Maintain backlog discipline and prioritize critical work
  • Oversee spare parts inventory and procurement coordination

2.5 Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance staff
  • Set clear expectations and drive accountability and performance

2.6 Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards, including LOTO and machine guarding
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies

2.7 Budget and Resources

  • Maintain maintenance spending across labor, parts, and services
  • Coordinate external vendors and contractors as needed

2.8 Cross-Functional Support

  • Align maintenance activities with production priorities
  • Support capital projects and equipment upgrades

3.0 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Bachelor’s degree preferred

3.2 5–10 years in manufacturing maintenance

3.3 3 plus years in a leadership role

3.4 Experience with TPM, reliability, or Lean practices

3.5 Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge

3.6 Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability

 

3.7 Effective leadership and cross-functional collaboration

4.0 WORKING CONDITIONS

4.1 Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows safety policies, practices and procedures.

4.2 Works in an office or meeting room setting and at plant locations. Attends meetings or performs duties outside of normal office hours and may travel by air or car.

4.3 Sits or stands for long periods of time and may work in an environment with some discomfort due to temperature fluctuation.  

4.4 May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and may walk and / or work in an industrial environment.
