What will you do?

Responsible for electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.  Has fiscal responsibility for Maintenance department budgeting and expenditures and capital budget expenses for facility.  Serves as a primary conduit for fostering a work environment consistent with company philosophy and objectives.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the maintenance, electrical and mechanical operations.
  • Develops schedules and controls a preventative maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Inspects jobs in process and at completions to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
  • Confers with management members to formulate facilities capital expense budget and priorities. Assists controller in calculating return on investment for CER’s.
  • Recommend plans, and implements equipment needed to improve production efficiency and/or cost reduction procedures.
  • Responsible for environmental compliance for facility, relating to EPA and all required reporting and compliance issues. Confers with local regulatory agencies to discover local environmental quality standards, industrial practices, and new developments in pollution abatement.    
  • Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the Maintenance mission in an effective and efficient manner. Interview and recommend applicants for hire as maintenance employees.
  • Responsible for budgets and business planning for department and responsible for establishing and meeting department goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with engineering staff and other plants’ maintenance staffs to efficiently implement any process, equipment and tooling changes, updates and repairs.
  • Collaborates with sales, quality and engineering personnel to devise action plans for new product development or quality correction needs.
  • Plans a continual work schedule to maintain a safe and healthy condition on company property in order to achieve the best working conditions possible for all employees.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of facility machinery and building.
  • Maintains inventories of maintenance materials, supplies and repair parts at required levels by initiating requisitions for purchase; periodically reviews inventory for proper up-keep at plant facilities.
  • Responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment layouts and modification of facilities within the plant.
  • Collaborates with other employees at all levels to develop and install methods improvements and cost saving ideas.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of maintenance employees; ensures their ability to safely operate shop and auxiliary equipment; Counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary. Develops Department Specialist to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew.
  • Ensures that established policies, rules, regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates and directs facility engineering projects and determines when outside resources are needed.
  • Shares responsibility with Human Resource Manager to ensure plant compliance OSHA standards and reporting requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 15-20 employees in the Maintenance Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Ability to lead, motivate, select, train and instruct personnel.  Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.  Thorough technical understanding of production equipment, facility equipment and utilities.  Has command of proper engineering practices and procedures.  Computer skills required for multiple graphs, reports and charts.  Manufacturing experience preferred.  College degree in related field; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors or employees of organization.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Pay range for this role: $79,661 - $109,533
