Job Title:  Maintenance Manager

Immediate Supervisor Plant Manager

Schedule: Typical 1st shift hours Mon-Fri, on call and after hours as needed or for projects 

Salary: Exempt. $90,000 - $115,000 DOE

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall reliability, maintenance, and performance of all plant assets, utilities, facilities, and maintenance personnel. The position provides leadership for maintenance, reliability, capital projects, utilities, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, and manage maintenance staff to maintain the plant functions.
  • Develop plans to improve plant performance with the cooperation of the plant management team.
  • Ensure sanitation, safety, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality policies and procedures are followed.
  • Counsel and discipline employees as appropriate.
  • Participate as a member of the plant safety committee.
  • Establish and maintain departmental budget within established guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain capital budget within established guidelines.
  • Evaluate and prepare expense authorizations for projects and present to Plant Manager for submittal.
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance system.
  • Identify appropriate vendor network.
  • Assist Safety Manager with accident investigations as requested.
  • Communicate and respond to issues raised by Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Communicate and respond to issues raised by production staff.
  • Coordinate equipment availability request with Plant Manager for maintenance functions.
  • Interface with plant management staff on daily operational issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in maintenance management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess solid analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
  • Computer literacy applied to control and data management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally, understand, and write in the English language.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to push, pull, and move up to 100 pounds. The employee must be able to physically lift up to 50 pounds. All jobs require visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech. At times there can be loud noise which may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
