Position Title: Property Manager
Department: 81002|Baker Hall (New)
Responsibilities:
The Property Manager oversees the daily operations and overall management of two residence halls (Baker Hall and Huger Hall) and Legacy Park Apartments at Cajun Village which house more than 1,500 total residents. This role is central to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and well-maintained living environment that supports the University’s mission and enhances the student residential experience.
The Property Manager leads staff, manages resources, and coordinates facilities to drive operational excellence, resident satisfaction, and adherence to University Housing policies. This position is part of the Office of University Housing team and reports directly to the Assistant Director of Housing Facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Property Operations & Facilities Management
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness of facilities.
- Partner with the Assistant Director of Facilities to plan and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
- Manage occupancy transitions, including move-ins, move-outs, and room turnover.
- Serve as a safety coordinator when delegated, ensuring compliance with emergency procedures and protocols.
- Respond to crises and emergencies with sound judgment and effective coordination of resources.
Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise custodial and student staff members.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Model strong leadership and customer service standards, cultivating a culture of accountability and excellence.
Administrative & Compliance Management
- Maintain accurate records, files, and data within the housing management system (StarRez).
- Ensure office operations open and function smoothly each day.
- Assist in planning and executing annual projects to enhance property value and resident satisfaction.
- Monitor compliance with university and housing policies, and adapt processes as needed.
- Prepare reports and documentation to support data-driven decision making.
Resident Experience & Community Engagement
- Foster a positive residential community by addressing resident concerns promptly and professionally.
- Enforce housing policies, occupancy rules, and community standards to promote safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement resident communication strategies to ensure transparency and engagement.
- Support marketing and recruitment efforts by conducting tours, sharing information at university events, and promoting upperclassmen housing options.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and university goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Relevant professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
One (1) year of experience in housing operations, property management, residence life, hospitality, customer service, facilities management, operations management or a related field.
Experience supervising, training, or coordinating the work of employees, student staff, or volunteers.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive situations professionally.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support move-in, move-out, emergency response, and other operational requirements.
