The Frost Institute for Chemistry & Molecular Science (FICMS) has a great job opportunity for a Scientist Facility Manager to work at the University of Miami.

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Scientist, GAB, Facility Manager supports the University’s research goals and objectives by engaging in complex experiments and investigations in a range of areas, depending on specialty and interests. Moreover, the Scientist position contributes to the scientific community and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field. They will also be responsible for the day to day operations of the electron microscopy core.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees research employees, students, and other relevant staff.
  • Provides oversight to the electron microscopy facility, including coordinating instrument repairs, maintaining instruments, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications. Develops training materials for research staff.   
  • Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.
  • Prepares research proposals and funding applications.
  • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.
  • Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences. 
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Ph.D. in relevant field required.

Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
