About the Role
Position Summary:
Southland Steel Fabricators is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Site Maintenance Manager to lead our Amite Campus site maintenance team. This position will support all three business on site in Amite; Grid Structures, Solar Pile USA, and Southland Industrial Coatings – Galvanizing Operations. This position will support operations by overseeing a Maintenance team in support of factory operations involved in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the facilities and manufacturing equipment. This position performs preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased productivity and reliability, helping to meet production and quality goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support maintenance technicians in managing daily crew activities and ensuring the facility and equipment maintain a high level of uptime.
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Ownership of the Lock out Tag Out process
- Maintain a strong floor presence (approx. 80% shop / 20% office) to resolve problems, motivate teams, and maintain momentum.
- Foster accountability, promote team morale, and address performance issues proactively.
- Coordinate preventative inspections, periodic maintenance and repair of production equipment, vehicle equipment and building.
- Ownership of conducting and tracking preventative maintenance (PM’s) on equipment and facilities
- Ownership of Spare Parts management to ensure minimal downtime due to equipment or facilities component failures.
- Install, troubleshoot and/or make changes to building grounds or equipment, electrical systems, mechanical systems, building systems and related maintenance.
- Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions.
- Perform machine shop work on various machines such as drill presses, grinders, torches, cutting equipment, and electric/manual hand tools.
- Ensures that all work performed meets required codes (OSHA, City and Federal) and is in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials and work area.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing a maintenance or facility support team
- Experience with utilizing PM / Spare Parts Management system or CMMS
- Previous experience supporting a galvanizing plant is preferred
- Associates degree or higher in a technical discipline preferred
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to frequently pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment or materials 50 lbs.
- Ability to withstand frequent bending, squatting, or crouching
- Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity
