About the Role:
The Leasing Consultant plays a pivotal role in the real estate and rental industry by serving as the primary point of contact for prospective tenants. This position is responsible for showcasing available properties, explaining leasing terms, and guiding applicants through the rental process to ensure a seamless and positive experience. The Leasing Consultant works closely with property management teams to maintain occupancy rates and contribute to the financial success of the property portfolio. By effectively communicating the benefits and features of each property, the consultant helps match tenants with suitable living spaces that meet their needs. Ultimately, this role is essential in fostering strong tenant relationships and supporting the overall reputation and profitability of the leasing operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in leasing, sales, or customer service, preferably within the real estate or rental industry.
- Basic knowledge of leasing laws and fair housing regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office and property management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience using property management and leasing software platforms.
- Bilingual abilities to effectively communicate with a diverse tenant base.
- Certification in leasing or property management (e.g., NALP or similar).
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding leasing goals.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and engage prospective tenants, providing detailed information about available rental properties and leasing terms.
- Conduct property tours, highlighting key features and amenities to prospective renters.
- Assist applicants in completing rental applications and explain the leasing process clearly and professionally.
- Perform background and credit checks in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all leasing activities, inquiries, and tenant communications.
- Collaborate with property management and maintenance teams to ensure properties are ready for occupancy.
- Follow up with prospective tenants to answer questions, address concerns, and encourage lease signings.
- Promote community events and amenities to enhance tenant satisfaction and retention.
- Stay informed about local rental market trends to provide competitive leasing options.
- Ensure compliance with fair housing laws and company policies throughout the leasing process.
