ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Develop and maintain plant facilities and manufacturing systems to ensure quality and production standards are maintained or exceeded. Responsible for the maintenance of building, grounds, equipment, and the supervision of all employees assigned to the Maintenance Department, with the result of minimizing downtime and maximizing production capabilities.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelors degree in a technical field (or its equivalent in direct working experience) plus 5 - 7 years of related work experience is preferred. Must have experience with a variety of P.C. applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of programmable logic controllers, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical is required.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manages a 3-shift maintenance operation.
- Manage department work schedule and initiate job assignments at the beginning of the shift(s), and changes during the shift(s) as required.
- Participate in objective setting, plan development, and performance review of operations performance.
- Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the automotive assembly industry, with an emphasis on machine up time, planning/scheduling, and preventative/predictive maintenance.
- In coordination with purchasing monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and adjusts reordering points (min/max inventory) when necessary.
- Manages the maintaining of a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of assembly equipment.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving assembly operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
- Works with manufacturing engineering, maintenance associates, and Human Resources to ensure maintenance associates are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that maintenance activities can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for coordination of outside contractor equipment rigging and all facilities construction contractors.
- Prepare and facilitate all mandatory facility inspections, operating permits and other documents as required for operation of the facility.
- Communicates regularly with all maintenance associates, both individually and as a group to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
- Hiring of maintenance associates.
- Conducts associate performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance associates.
- Maintains the machine manuals and prints for the maintenance department. Coordinates with manufacturing engineering to assure prints are updated as needed for the maintenance department purposes.
- Monitors the assembly equipment and systems.
- Reviews the operation of assembly equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
- Coordinates activities with the Operations Manager.
- Maintain compliance with Company operating and quality policies, safety rules, environmental procedures and policy, and good housekeeping standards.
- Working with the Engineering Manager as needed to assist in the preparation and tracking of Capital Appropriation Request and expenditures as related to Capital Projects that fall within the maintenance and facilities cost centers / responsibility.
