Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager directs skilled and semi-skilled workers in the maintenance of the plant buildings, grounds and maintenance and repair of plant equipment and machinery.  Coordinates the work of outside vendors after contracts are in place.  Expertise and leadership for the overall plant and equipment (mechanical & electrical) systems. Strong hands-on experience in metal manufacturing. PLC programing, trouble shooting and interfacing with multiple pieces of equipment is a must. Coordinating schedules to perform equipment repairs and PM’s and mandatory inspections for licenses & permits. 


Requirements

1. Install, rebuild and maintain equipment controls including PC’s, PLC’s, and custom controllers.

2. Program and troubleshoot electronic control circuits for specialty equipment used to produce production components and assemblies. Typical controls could include servos, encoders, relays, light curtains, switches, proximity sensors, send & receive sensors, optical readers, power supplies discrete or variable I/O, interfacing multiple control systems and more.

3. Experience in working with air, electric, hydraulic circuits, programmable controls (PLC), electrical control circuits, and ability to make and interpret circuit drawings

4. Troubleshooting and repair of PC and network equipment.

5. Interpret and write PLC ladder logic programs and the associated circuits

6. Complete projects involving mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry; including bills of materials for each project.

7. Perform all normal maintenance and repair of all plant equipment and facilities

8. Ability to use all hand tools required as well as most tool room machinery

9. Pass forklift operation training course; pass eye examination for forklift operation

10. Track equipment repair cost

11. Welding and brazing for equipment building and repair.


Education/Experience:   Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree. Two to five years' experience in Building, Plant and Equipment management. Preferred experience in metal fabrication and welded assembly production operations.


Knowledge: Sound knowledge of engineering theory and manufacturing techniques. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures.  Principles and techniques of plant and equipment repair and maintenance. Principles and techniques of supervision, training, scheduling and assigning workflow.


Skills: Develop and maintain accurate records and reports; effective use of time and materials to ensure quality processes and parts to the customer on time; analyzing and independently solving process problems; interpersonal communications verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people; maintaining effective business relations with other departments and customers.
