About the Role

OVERVIEW :

Responsible for the management of all maintenance activities for the facility. To provide leadership, consultation, and guidance regarding maintenance expenditure projects, cost efficiencies, process development, modification, and facility maintenance. To lead the Maintenance Planning Department and act as a liaison between Maintenance and all other plant departments.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS :

  • Ensure health and safety policies comply and are followed.
  • Develop and deploy maintenance and planning improvement programs and projects that improve the plant and equipment performance.
  • Promote safety and ensure compliance from the maintenance department.
  • Directly manage the Maintenance Planning Department, the Computerized Maintenance Management System, and Planning Processes.
  • Supervise maintenance staffing to include hiring, training, and developing the staff to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance is completed and records are maintained on all assets.
  • Ensure that designated buildings, the plant, and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required.
  • Allocate workload and supervise upkeep of staff.
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders as necessary.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • BS Degree (Engineering) or Technical Education Equivalent.
  • 5+ years of plant maintenance experience in food processing.
  • Understanding of maintenance management systems and processes.
  • Understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies.
  • Understanding of standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong communication, math, organizational, and analytical skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Work in a manufacturing environment that will expose the employee to increased levels of noise from equipment, as well as environmental conditions ranging from wet and cold to hot and humid.
  • Perform some sedentary work in an office environment.
  • Walk through all areas of the processing plant and facilities in the complex.
  • Assist mechanics that may require some heavy lifting, bending stooping, kneeling, and squatting to access hard-to-reach areas.
  • Able to communicate, listen, and direct a group of personnel assigned to the department.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work around raw, live animal odors.
  • Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
