About the Role

 

I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 Manage, direct and lead all Engineering and Maintenance activities at the Indianapolis facility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. As well as leads the ISO 50001Energy Management System compliance. 

II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and leads Engineering and Maintenance personnel to plan and formulate engineering and maintenance projects/programs. Assigns project/program personnel to specific phases or aspects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, product testing, continuous improvement and preventative maintenance initiatives. 
  • Directs new programs proof of design through installation on into production support.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Prepares budget, bids and contracts. Approves expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Works closely with engineering department to properly integrate controls components into overall design
  • Manage individual projects, budgets, schedules and routinely report progress.
  • Responsible for maintaining plant electrical systems; providing Engineering Support and Managing the Electrical Supervisor and electrical staff.
  • Provides technical analysis/review for energy projects; providing risk assessment.
  • Identify and establish working relationships with all necessary engineering, maintenance, construction and procurement firms.
  • Assists plant operations to ensure the best production, quality, specifications and delivery; including: manufacturing operations, operational functions, costs, working practices, performance, maintenance, compliance standards, inspections, reports, grievances, environmental, establishes priorities, schedules, report reviews and compilations.
  • Manages repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Manages, plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations efficiency. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers. Oversees requisitions of tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations. Directs the fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment. 
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. 
  • Manages preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Confers with management, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and to recommend measures to improve efficiency of machines and equipment.
  • Prepare Preventative Maintenance calendars for all equipment.
  • Reviews production, quality control, maintenance reports, and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Hire, train and mentor engineering and maintenance supervisory staff. 
  • Writes performance reviews and solves internal issues. 
  • Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, PC Technical Masters degree and Certifications a plus.
  • 10-15 years experience in industrial environment as Plant/Project Engineer
  • 4 years Engineering Management/Supervisory Experience
  • 4 years experience in maintenance supervision and management
  • Experience with SCADA systems programming, HMI and PLC controls
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills; written and verbal are required to interact with various groups to obtain their needs and understand their problems with SCADA applications or systems. 
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.
  • Must be highly flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage change.
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Computer literate and proficient with Auto CAD

 

IV. POST-HIRE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Quality system familiarization
  • ISO 14001 awareness, EMS objectives and targets, plant significant environmental impacts.
  • OHSAS 18001 Awareness, OH&S-MS Objectives and Goals, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control.


V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of his job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
