POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to manage, direct and lead maintenance employees.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages schedules, repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Manages, plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations efficiency. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers. Oversees requisitions of tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations. Directs the fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment.
- Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Manages preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and to recommend measures to improve efficiency of machines and equipment.
- Reviews production, quality control, maintenance reports, and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
- Directs training of employees. Confers with workers representatives to resolve grievances.
- Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.

III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS
- 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field or equivalent experience
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills; verbal and written
- 5 years experience in maintenance supervision and management

- Environmental training applicable to the job
- Safety training for applicable equipment
- Job instructional training
- Quality system familiarization
- ISO 14001 awareness, EMS objectives and targets, plant significant environmental impacts
- OHSAS 18001 Awareness, OH&S-MS Objectives and Goals, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control
V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this fob include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the environment is usually very loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
