About the Role

Description

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall operation, safety, and upkeep of the site’s buildings, infrastructure, and utilities. This role focuses on buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and facility systems and does not oversee production or industrial equipment maintenance. They also ensure that the facility environment supports safe and efficient production operations across the greenhouse, packing, and support areas by leading a team of Greenhouse Specialists, Groundskeepers and Fleet Mechanic.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee facility infrastructure including buildings, utilities, grounds, and support systems. Monitor system alarms and respond promptly to operational alerts or abnormal system conditions.
  • Manage facility-related vendors, contractors, and service agreements
  • Serve as the OSHA-certified trainer for equipment such as fork trucks, pallet jacks, and scissor lifts
  • This role may require participation in after-hours on-call rotation and emergency response.
  • Oversight includes facility vehicles (e.g., trucks, snow equipment, utility vehicles).
  • Coordinate facility improvement and capital projects
  • Support site expansion projects including greenhouse expansions, infrastructure upgrades, and new equipment installations.
  • Ensure proper operation of facility systems including electrical, HVAC, water, and related utilities.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance records for facility systems and inspections.
  • Support operational teams by ensuring facility infrastructure supports production and plant health requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for facility efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
  • Lead team of grounds keepers for snow removal, grounds upkeep and other grounds related activities.
  • Lead team of greenhouse specialist whose positions focus on greenhouse related maintenance.
  • Monitor facility energy consumption and implement programs to improve energy efficiency and utility cost control.
  • Responsible for powered vehicle fleet which includes direction to Fleet Mechanic.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and inspections of critical infrastructure systems
  • Maintain proper documentation for inspections, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead site emergency preparedness planning including power outages, fire events, and severe weather.
  • Oversee maintenance of roads, drainage, parking areas, exterior lighting, and site grounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Facilities.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of building systems including electrical, HVAC, and utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical and plumbing).
  • Experience managing industrial or commercial facility operations.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and OSHA compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, stress management, and sense of accountability; must be a responsible and reliable team player with a positive attitude, high level of maturity, and strong work ethic.
  • Is well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational and vendor management skills.
  • Comfortable working in conditions to include heights, hot and cold temperatures, and high-intensity lighting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent technical training and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in facilities management, plant operations, building infrastructure, or a related technical environment.
  • 2–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing technicians, contractors, or facility teams
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including wet or outdoor conditions.
