About the Role

Description

Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School seeks a dedicated Maintenance Director to oversee the care, safety, and operation of all parish and school facilities. This role ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for worship, learning, and ministry while supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.


Key Responsibilities

Facilities & Repairs

  • Maintain all buildings, including church, classrooms, offices, and auxiliary spaces
  • Perform routine repairs and coordinate major work for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules and maintain inspection records

Grounds & Exterior

  • Oversee landscaping, lawn care, playgrounds, sidewalks, and parking areas
  • Ensure safety during inclement weather and monitor exterior lighting and security systems

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with diocesan policies, fire codes, OSHA, and local regulations
  • Maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, and safety signage
  • Report hazards promptly and assist in risk management

Custodial & Event Support

  • Supervise custodial staff and maintain cleaning standards
  • Manage custodial and maintenance supplies
  • Prepare facilities for Masses, liturgies, school events, and parish functions

Vendor & Budget Oversight

  • Supervise contractors and capital improvement projects
  • Obtain bids following diocesan financial policies
  • Assist Pastor with maintenance budget planning and long-term facility needs

Requirements

  Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (trade certification/technical training preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, ideally in a parish, school, or institutional setting
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to lift, climb, and perform physical labor

  • Uphold confidentiality in all parish and school matters

Safe Environment Requirements

  • Complete criminal background check and VIRTUS Safe Environment training
  • Comply with diocesan child protection policies and mandatory reporting laws

Work Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor work; occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Availability for emergency maintenance situations
